Mali : Who is Ras Bath’s nominee?

Who finances the Ras Bath’s Collective for the Defense of the Republic (CDR), which has become the UFO in the microcosm of civil society and a real phenomenon for the media who love this volley of blows against the government and of what has become Malian society? What we know and that he told us is that the former Prime Minister Moussa Mara, whose name constantly comes back among his supporters, is not behind his movement. The latter, who is known to be smart, is now repeating what has become a learned tune: it’s not him behind Ras Bath. One truth remains: in this case, the truth remains the first victim and the denigrators of Ras Bath will give much to get hold of. He knows it very well; he has the postulate that it is necessary to « kick the table over » in Mali in 2018. Between insolent display of unemployment, rampant insecurity in the north, the center and the south of the country, misery in hospitals and the families, agitation of the social front, Ras Bath could not go unnoticed with his speech in which there are revolutionary odors. Like all phenomena, Ras Bath finds its explanation in this context.

« His numerous trips abroad constantly feed heavy suspicions on his allies or supporters »

However, the « kicking the table over » requires that we have to be in a position of strength, to be at the head of a political movement capable of conquering power, which is not the case of the activist who says that he has no political ambition. However, the recent acts he has put forward are eloquent to show the contrary. First of all, his departure from the Antè A Bana Platform for reasons that he declined and which are challenged within the group where it is said that he is not clear in his ambitions. His numerous journeys abroad constantly feed heavy suspicions on his allies or supporters. And his « Alternance 2018 » campaign came to complete convincing that there is a Ras Bath in Ras Bath, that is, an unpredictable man in his game. Who, despite being a turbulent apostle of change and that he wants to erect a watertight partition between yesterday and today in a country undermined by the crisis, is today questionable.

Whether he wants or not, it is now on the question of his supporters that we will attack him and that we will force him to show white foot. It is no longer useful to make an X-ray of his social base, essentially based on the displaced, the unemployed. And we know that thanks to him, we will no longer think of this phrase of Sony Labou Tansi in La vie et demi when we speak of Mali: « No heroes in this country. Here it is the land of the cowards. You can not risk breaking the standards ». For Ras Bath even crossed the social rubicund, threw his cap over the mills and became a hero for a disoriented youth, and who knows what is happening elsewhere and only dream of leading a life of the VVVF (villa, cars, wines, women).

His plan is certainly not very well known to us. What is known is at present is that he will support a candidate. Which? Nobody knows that either. However, it is clear that one can not be content or cling to appearances, to decor, to give oneself a good conscience. At the risk of missing something very fundamental for which Ras Bath is fighting and for which he speaks, in these chronicles, with the stern tone of the Prosecutor. Ras Bath owes us this, otherwise the disappointment will live up to hope. Perhaps not for the proponents of this vision of Machiavelli, according to which the aim of politics is success, not morality.
