Niger – Agadez: a drug trafficker killed in a clash with the army

A clash between a group of drug traffickers and the army has killed one of the drug traffickers yesterday, Friday, April 28, east of Agadez. A conveyor vehicle was also destroyed.

According to the correspondent of Sahelien.com, the fighting took place towards the site called Ighayen a stone’s throw away from the cliff of Tiguidit, in the municipality of Aderbissinat.

According to a security source, it was a convoy of eleven 4 × 4 vehicles stuffed with drugs that came probably from the north of Mali and which was going probably towards Chad or Libya which was intercepted by Amoumane Kalakouwa’s men( Ex-chief of staff of the Niger Movement for Justice, ex-Tuareg rebellion of 2007, editor’s note) with reinforcements from agents of the national guard of Agadez.

The Aderbissinat municipality in the north of the Niger is becoming more and more a passage for the traffics of any kind. The first quarter of 2017 was marked by an increase in seizures of ammunition, weapons and narcotics.
