The Ayorou gendarmerie station, north of the Tillaberi region, was attacked on Thursday May 11, around 5:15 pm (local time).
After some exchanges of fire, the assailants had the upper hand over the gendarmes on duty. Thus « five vehicles of the security forces and one belonging to an individual were abducted. All the weapons were taken away, including a 12/7 » a security source told Sahelien.com.
Chasings were initiated by soldiers from the Yassene post a few kilometers from Ayorou. At the latest news, the private vehicle was found abandoned by the assailants.
This area close to the border with Mali is considered the scene of several acts of insecurity since the beginning of the war in northern Mali.
