A Nigerien army post west of Tassara in the Tahoua region was targeted by a terrorist attack on Wednesday July 5.
The attackers who came in large numbers, attacked from 5 am but faced a fierce counterattack from agents of the Nigerian army until 8 am according to security sources.
No official report is yet available but a security source speaks of 5 dead, 11 wounded and 8 missing.
French fighter planes even intervened to repel the attack. The attackers took away military equipment and destroyed the communications network.
