Burkina Faso: An attack on a restaurant has killed at least 18 in Ouagadougou

A new terrorist attack targeted a restaurant in the capital of Burkina Faso on Sunday, August 13, around 9 pm. It happens more than a year and a half after the attack against a café-terrace and a hotel in Ouagadougou.

The provisional report of yesterday’s attack on the Istanbul restaurant on Kwame Nkrumah Avenue indicates 18 people killed and about 10 wounded. Two terrorists have been killed, according to the Burkinabe authorities. The assault ended around 5 am.

The perimeter of the restaurant is strictly prohibited for investigation reasons indicated the gendarmerie.

It is the second terrorist attack in less than two years against highly frequented establishments in Ouagadougou. On January 15, 2016, 30 people were killed in the attack on the Cafe Capuccino and the Hotel Splendid.
