Center of Mali: hundredth day of captivity for the hostage Amadou N’Djoum

In Mali, Amadou N’Djoum, an agent of the National Institute for Social Welfare (INPS), was abducted near Youwarou in the center of the country exactly 100 days ago. Promises of his release have been made, but he remains in the hands of his captors, suspected of being the Katibat of Macina led by Amadou Kouffa.

Amadou Ndjoum

The only sign of life that he gave is this video put online last May to ensure his relatives with his conditions of detention. He appears kneeling and asks the authorities to do everything possible to get him released.

A call fell in a deaf ear. Despite the opening of legal proceedings, no serious investigation was undertaken to obtain his release. However, several local elected officials remain convinced that he is detained in the center of the country where he was abducted hundred days ago.

True statements, especially since his relatives were able to come into contact with his abductors a little more than a month ago. “They called us on the phone when they knew we were trying to get in touch with them. They had promised us that he would soon be free, as soon as he finished studying”, says one of them. Study what? “The man with the rock voice” at the other end of the phone will say nothing more.

Other promises of his release will be made. This time, his relatives will pass by a local elected official who would be “a little influential” in this part of the country. But nothing is moving for the moment.
