Following a visit by Malian President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta to his Chadian counterpart, “the two Heads of State have decided on the reciprocal exemption of visas for the benefit of the nationals of both countries with immediate effect” says a statement from the Malian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Now, our compatriots can go to Chad without visas and Chadian nationals can come to Mali under the same conditions, for a stay not exceeding 90 days”, said the same statement. After 90 days, the citizens of both countries must comply with the legislation in force in the host country.
A decision “of historical significance”, according to Bamako, which “reflects the depth and excellence of the relations between Mali and Chad and confirms the commitment of the two Heads of State in favor of African integration”.
