Mali : CMA releases 9 Gatia fighters in Kidal, 12 others will be in Anefis

The Coordination of Azawad Movements (CMA) proceeded, Thursday, October 5, to the release of the Gatia fighters captured after the last violent clashes in the Kidal region.

«Nine detainees were released in the city of Kidal because they are from the city and its surroundings», said a source present at the opening ceremony where the authorities, the International Committee of the Red Cross as well as the UN mission were present. This evening, another 12 fighters will be released at Anefis, still in the Kidal region», said our source.

This release comes after the signing a few weeks ago of a final ceasefire between the two groups in Bamako. One of the commitments is the release of the various fighters detained on both sides.

The two sides have also been in Anefis since a few days where talks on the implementation of the ceasefire must begin.
