A vehicle with two Malian soldiers aboard was attacked in the town of Menaka on Wednesday, September 6, around 5:30 am.
The soldiers came to the market to buy meet when they were attacked by armed men. These latter tried to abduct the vehicle of the Malian Armed Forces.
According to the Sahelien.com correspondent in Menaka, a soldier was killed during the exchange of fire and the assailants fled.
The attacks in the city had diminished when Menaka had strengthened its security a few months ago.
