The governor of Kidal, Sidi Mohamed Ag Ichrach, arrived this Wednesday, August 23, in the regional capital to take office.
Appointed last February, it was today that the head of the regional executive was able to travel to Kidal to prepare for the return of its administration.
Upon his arrival, he met with officials of the UN mission in Kidal and notables, according to a source close to the Platform. The contacts will continue tomorrow, the same source added.
The ex-rebels of the Coordination Azawad Movements (CMA), considered his appointment as a provocation because of his proximity to the Touareg Imghad and allied self-defense group (Gatia). His return was possible thanks to an agreement and mediation of the Minusma and a mission of the Malian government.
It is since 2014 that the administration is absent from Kidal, following the hectic visit of the former Prime Minister Moussa Mara.
