Mali : Three peacekeepers killed in the north of the country

In Mali, a vehicle of the UN Mission Force logistical convoy hit a mine or an improvised explosive device on the Tessalit-Aguelhok route on Thursday, Minusma said in a statement.

“Following the blast, three peacekeepers lost their lives and two others were injured according to an interim report”, added the UN mission. Adding that the medical evacuation of the victims was carried out to the city of Kidal.

For Koen Davidse, acting head of the mission, “such acts have the sole purpose of destabilizing the country and undermining the ongoing peace process in Mali”.

In northern Mali, the security situation remains worrying. The various attacks against the army and peacekeepers are multiplying the day after a tour of ambassadors of the Security Council in the Sahel to “get a touch” of the realities on the ground for the deployment of the G5-Sahel regional force.
