Niger – Agadez: 44 migrants dead in the desert

Forty-four migrants died in the Nigerian desert as they attempted to travel to Libya. Three babies, two minor children and seventeen women are among the victims, according to the Sahelien.com correspondent in Agadez.

They died of thirst after the breakdown of their vehicle. Six survivors were able to reach on foot, the well known as Ashougour. They are currently being cared for at a migrant center in Dirkou, our correspondent said. The authorities are preparing to go to the scene of the drama to recover the bodies.

In early May, eight migrants heading to Algeria, were found dead in the desert. In June 2016, 34 people abandoned by smugglers were found dead in the desert.
