The attack on the Bagaji weekly market in the Dosso region took place on Wednesday, February 13, around noon.
This market, located north of the Dogondoutchi department, is lively every Wednesday. The attackers, six in number, came on motorbikes, according to a resident contacted by the Sahelien.com correspondent in Niamey. Three gendarmes and one civilian were killed, says a local source.
Adding that the attackers fled towards the rural commune of Soucoucoutane near the border with Nigeria. The National Guard Brigade has initiated a pursuit after the attack.
