The camp of the new unit of the Koro National Guard (Mopti region) was has been the target of an attack on Wednesday, 19 July, around 10 pm.
According to the Malian army, “armed individuals on two motorcycles fired” on the camp. Following the response of the sentinel, the assailants fled by abandoning their motorcycle. Yesterday after the attack, “the town was sealed and searched by the elements of the Guard and the Gendarmerie”.
On Thursday, the Malian Armed Forces announced that the body of an assailant had been found 70 meters from the attack site: “he was shot down by the sentinel’s shots. He had a submachine gun (SG) next to him”.
